🔑 Account & access
How this device connects to AI note generation, plus the name and specialty shown on your notes.
🔒 Your key stays on this computer; only sent to OpenAI. It is saved in this browser's local storage and never shared with anyone else.
✔ Key saved on this device.
🏥 Practice & provider
Your clinic and provider details. Stored on this device. When filled, they appear on the printed note header.
Premium adds your logo to printed/PDF notes and white-labels them.
📝 Note defaults
Defaults applied to new notes. The note style is shared with MLS as a writing preference.
Tip: your standing follow-up interval lives below under Provider preferences.
🎚️ AI personalization
Standing instructions and defaults MLS applies to every note it writes for you.
Premium notes run on a priority lane for lower latency. Pick the stronger model for the highest-quality notes, or the fast model for the quickest turnaround. Standard always uses the fast model.
Add reusable style/content rules and MLS follows them on every note. These are remembered instructions applied to the AI — not patient details.
e.g. Use APSO format · Keep HPI to 3 sentences · Always add return precautions · Never suggest benzodiazepines · Use my normal-exam template
Your standing comment is dropped into the Comment box on every new visit and woven into the generated note. Edit it per visit as needed.
e.g. Risk/benefit discussed; patient verbalized understanding. Follow up in 2 weeks or sooner if symptoms worsen.
🎨 Display
Appearance and workflow preferences for this device.
When you pick a patient, show their chart beside the list instead of below it (wide screens).
✍️ Provider preferences
Saved credentials added to the bottom of every generated note under an "Electronically signed by:" line. Leave blank to append nothing.
e.g. Matthew W. Schaeffer, MD — Chester County Spine Care
Your standing follow-up window, shared with MLS as a preference for the plan/return-precautions.
e.g. 2 weeks
🧩 Features

Adds an IME report button to the note tools for independent medical examinations.
Estimates a patient's out-of-pocket cost from their entered insurance benefits.

Adds a ⚖️ Legal button that drafts a formal medical-legal report from the active patient's record plus an attorney request, lets you e-sign it, and saves it as a PDF.
One question per line. These appear at the end of the 📋 Patient intake form (the header button you hand to the patient on the iPad), and the answers flow automatically into the patient's summary/history. Leave empty to hide the section.
🔒 Security & privacy
Protect access on this device. Clearing saved data only affects this browser — it never touches server data.
Protects open charts when you step away (HIPAA technical safeguard). Resets on any activity.
Removes this account's MLS settings, preferences, patients and notes saved in this browser. This cannot be undone. It does not delete anything on a server or affect other accounts/devices.
⚖️ Legal expert profile
Your details for medical-legal reports: your CV (used in expert reports), an invoice/billing footer, and your deposition / trial appearance rates shown to attorneys.
🔗 Integrations
Connections to outside systems like your EMR.
Store your athenahealth API details here for when direct integration goes live.
● Not connected — athenahealth API access required
Direct push to Athena activates once athenahealth API access + partner approval + a server backend are in place. A browser cannot call Athena directly (CORS + approved credentials are required), so credentials are stored locally for now and never transmitted.
A key lets the MLS FHIR API and the MLS Assist browser extension talk to your account. It's shown once — store it safely.
Drops finished notes into any web EMR — and Autopilot can take the steps for you, with your approval on anything it saves.
⬇ Download MLS Assist (.zip)chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode (top-right).mls-assist-extension folder. With MLS Assist installed, open a patient in your EMR (another tab), then click below — MLS reads that chart and pulls the patient + prior visits in here. No copy-paste.

Move many patients and their visit history into MLS at once. Paste a JSON export below — shape: {"patients":[{"name":"Jane Doe","dob":"1980-05-01","mrn":"12345","history":[{"date":"2026-03-10","note":"..."}]}]}. Stored encrypted, same as in-app charts.
Once your EMR is connected, MLS can automatically pull every patient (and their visit history) out of your EMR each night and back them up here — running on our server, so your office computer doesn't need to be on. Stored encrypted, same as in-app charts.

Import a blank template/form (PDF or image). When enabled, MLS formats the generated note to match the template's structure and fields. Templates are stored locally on this device. Off by default — when off, generation is unchanged.
Describe any card you want on the visit page. MLS can design dropdowns, checklists, status badges, scores and mini-charts into your widget — you approve the design, and from then on it appears with the other cards and auto-fills on every Generate — built only from what is documented, with [bracketed placeholders] for anything missing. Up to 10 widgets; they follow your account.
Ask where a button is or how to do something in MLS — answers are specific to this app, step by step.
Let's get your practice ready in a few quick steps — your details, your schedule, getting paid, and key settings. Then a short guide on how to use everything. Takes about 3 minutes; you can change anything later in Settings.
Drafts a formal medical-legal report for the active patient using their record and the attorney's request. Built only from documented facts — anything missing appears as a [bracketed placeholder] for you to complete. A DRAFT you must verify and sign.
Uses the active patient's chart and any note for clinical content. The report is a DRAFT to verify, complete, and sign.
This report has blanks the AI couldn't fill from the records. Enter the information below and it will be inserted into the report — nothing is left in brackets. Leave a field empty to keep its bracket for now.
Use de-identified labels (initials / MRN) until you're HIPAA-compliant. Stored locally on this device.
AI summarizes and extracts only what's in this document — it won't invent findings. Review before merging into the profile.
